Quick answer
Some signs need a clinician right away: a leg getting weaker, numbness in the buttocks or pelvis, any change in bladder or bowel control, and new or spreading leg pain. MedlinePlus notes it can pass without treatment, but long-term outlook is not published here. A supplement should never delay care.
Key facts
- Same-day signs: new leg pain, spreading numbness, leg weakness and any change in bladder or bowel control.
- Also urgent: numbness in the buttocks or pelvis.
- MedlinePlus notes that sciatica can pass without treatment.
- Prognosis, progression rates and how long it lasts are not published in our sources.
- The care it lists is exercises, medicines and surgery. A supplement is not on that list.
- NCCIH advises against using a complementary product to delay seeing a provider.
What warning signs mean sciatica needs a doctor right away?
Please read this list first. It matters more than anything else on the page. Each of these needs a provider right away, not next week.
- Loss of control of urine or stool, or any change in bladder or bowel control.
- Numbness in the buttocks or pelvis.
- A leg that is getting weaker.
- New leg pain, or pain that arrived suddenly and is severe.
- Numbness that is spreading rather than staying where it started.
Many people wait too long. Pain comes and goes, and a better day feels like permission to wait. But the signs above do not fade with a good day. Weakness, spreading numbness or a bladder or bowel change are reasons to call, whatever the pain is doing.
Do not wait for a capsule
A supplement has no role in any of these signs. The days spent waiting for one to work are days you could spend with a clinician. If you are unsure, call your doctor or urgent care.
Can sciatica progress, and does sciatica get worse over time?
Our sources do not describe how sciatica progresses. They do not give rates of worsening, and they do not describe the long-term outlook. We will not fill that gap with a guess. Questions such as is sciatica progressive, or what the long term sciatica prognosis is, are not published here.
What the sources do say is this. MedlinePlus frames sciatica as a symptom of trouble with the sciatic nerve. It is usually traced to a ruptured disk, spinal stenosis or a pelvic injury. And MedlinePlus adds that it can pass without treatment.
That last point cuts both ways. A good week does not prove anything about what you took. A bad week does not prove anything either. Only an examination can tell you if your problem is changing.
Our sources also do not discuss cauda equina by name. What they list are the signs above, such as loss of bladder or bowel control and numbness in the buttocks or pelvis. If you notice them, seek care at once.
What treatment options and procedures do sources list?
MedlinePlus lists three: exercises, medicines and surgery. A doctor decides which, if any, fits your case after finding the cause. Imaging is how a cause is found.
| Question | What is published |
|---|---|
| Treatments | Exercises, medicines and surgery |
| Does it go away on its own? | Sometimes |
| How long does it last? | Not published |
| Prognosis and progression | Not published |
| A physical therapy protocol or a PDF plan | Not published. Ask a clinician. |
| Do supplements treat it? | No supplement may claim to treat it |
If you see a protocol PDF online, ask who wrote it and whether anyone examined you. A written plan cannot find the cause of your pain.
Where does a supplement fit when your pain is changing?
It does not fit at the start, and it should never come before the visit. NCCIH says not to use a complementary product to postpone seeing a health care provider about a medical problem.
Sciatica PRO+ is named after the condition, but its label claims only Supports Nerve Health. It makes no claim to treat, relieve or cure sciatica. It is not FDA approved, and no supplement is.
If your doctor is happy for you to try a capsule, say what you take already. The product has vitamin B6 at 1.7 mg, vitamin D3 at 20 mcg and ashwagandha at 25 mg, and some of those matter with other medicines. The label asks pregnant or nursing mothers, children under 18 and people with a known medical condition to consult a physician first.
How do you prepare for the appointment?
A clear note helps a busy clinician help you. Write it before you go.
- Where the pain starts and how far down the leg it goes.
- When it began and whether it is changing week by week.
- What it stops you doing, such as sitting, standing or walking.
- Any numbness, tingling or weakness, and where it is.
- Any change in bladder or bowel control, even if it seems small.
- Every medicine and supplement you take. Bring the bottle.
The same note is useful later. If you do start a supplement, it is the only measure that is truly yours. Memory rewrites itself, and a dated note does not.
Frequently asked questions
Can sciatica get worse?
Our sources do not describe how sciatica progresses or give rates of worsening. They list signs that need a provider right away, such as a leg getting weaker or a change in bladder or bowel control.
Can sciatica progress to cauda equina?
Our sources do not discuss cauda equina by name. They do list loss of bladder or bowel control and numbness in the buttocks or pelvis as signs that need a provider right away.
Is sciatica progressive?
Not published in our sources. MedlinePlus says it can pass without treatment. Only an examination can tell you how your own problem is changing.
What is the long term sciatica prognosis?
Not published here. Outlook depends on the cause, and a doctor who has examined you is the right person to ask.
What is a sciatica procedure?
MedlinePlus lists treatment as possibly including exercises, medicines and surgery. Which one fits you is a decision for your clinician after the cause is found.
Can a supplement stop sciatica from getting worse?
No claim of that kind is made on the Sciatica PRO+ label, and no supplement may make one. Do not use a supplement to postpone seeing a provider.

Our view
The message of this page is short. Know the warning signs, act on them the same day, and do not let a bottle stand in for an examination. That is true for any supplement, including this one.
We were careful to say not published where the sources are silent, on progression, outlook and duration. Those are exactly the questions a clinician is for.
If your symptoms are stable and mild and your doctor agrees, a supplement is a personal choice. Even then, keep your dated note and keep your doctor in the loop.
Plain reminder
Sciatica PRO+ is not FDA approved, and no dietary supplement is. This page is general information, not medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Please ask your own doctor about any medical question.
